PEPONI HOTEL ****
Peponi is a small hotel on the exotic island of Lamu. Here there are still
no cars and the narrow streets of the old town have changed little over the
years. Peponi retains much of its character and charm from the sixties,
it's small and personal, and offers a perfect rest after a safari or a hide
away holiday from modern life. With just 24 rooms it's certainly personal.
All rooms are decorated with indoor plants, interesting artwork and
Swahili-style furnishings. No two rooms are alike and five of them are
built right on the beach. All have ocean views, overhead fans, mosquito
netting and personal safes.
KIPUNGANI SEA EXPLORER ****
Overlooking a deserted 14 kilometre beach on the south western tip of Lamu
Island, Kipungani Explorer is a dream destination for those seeking a true
desert island. With only fourteen spacious chalets perched on the soft
white sands, the location is idyllic. Everything here is exquisitely
rustic, from the hand made furnishings to large comfortable beds. Food is
highly recommended and shell fish straight form the ocean, a speciality.
There are a host of activities to take part in, though a stay here is

MUNIRA ISLAND CAMP - KIWAYU ****

KIWAYU DODORI ***
This enchanting little village with eighteen traditional bajuni cottages is
located on the Kenyan mainland in the remote Dodori National Reserve. The
cottages are rustic and very swish and constructed mainly from mangrove
poles, palm thatch and matting. They are complete privacy and very
romantic. The food is always deliciously cooked and consists mainly of
fresh seafood such as locally caught fish, lobster and crab. Kiwayu is the
perfect get away, offering a wide variety of activities to choose from.
KISIMANI HOUSE - LAMU ***
Kisimani House is found in Shela Village on Lamu. It has been built like a
fortress and has been beautifully furnished in Swahili style.
There are four en-suite bedrooms, miscellaneous single beds, a large
open-air living/dining terrace and private verandas on the ground floor.
The two top floors have spectacular views of the ocean, the archipelago and
of life in Shela village.
In the endless white sandy beaches surrounding this hotel, the sea is clean

NEW LAMU PALACE HOTEL ***
Lamu Palace hotel is located in Lamu town and directly on the seashore. It

KIJANI HOUSE ***
Located in the island of Lamu, Kijani House offers a unique accommodation
with its 2000 sq. meters of tropical garden, which leads directly to the
sea, and two fresh water swimming pools. Each room has a bathroom and has
its own balcony or veranda facing the garden and the sea.
The rooms are spread throughout the garden into three small separate
traditional Swahili buildings which formerly were private homes, made of

SUN SAIL HOTEL - LAMU **
The basic hotel is approximately one hundred years old and located in the
heart of Lamu town at the waterfront.
All rooms are self-contained and have a ceiling fan and telephone.
PETLEY'S INN - LAMU **
This hotel is in Lamu town and located directly on the seashore. It is one
of the oldest hotels in Kenya.
It has 11 rooms, which are air-conditioned and also a swimming pool. There
is a roof top bar and a restaurant for serving seafood specialties.
STONE HOUSE, LAMU *
Stone House Hotel is situated in the heart of the old Lamu Town, just a
short walk from Lamu's main street and waterfront, and offers simple, clean

THE TANA DELTA CAMP *****
Totally unspoilt, the Tana Delta Camp gives a taste of wilderness right on

Woburn Residence Club is located in Malindi, a 10-minute drive from the
Malindi airport.

TAMANI JUA RESORT ***
Located in a quite residential are of north Malindi the well manicured

One of Malindi’s oldest hotels the Eden Rock Hotel is located in the north
of Malindi in an area where the beach has receded some 300 metres from the
hotel due to natural land reclamation.

Located on the powder white beach of Silversands 3 miles south of Malindi
the Coral key Beach resort is an Italian tourist hotel with animators and

and fun-centred resort. A beauty farm offers a variety of beauty care
treatments including special diets and a work out progamne in the gym. 120

SCORPIO VILLAS **
The cottages of Scorpio Villas are furnished in old Lamu style handcrafted

KILIFI BAY BEACH HOTEL, KILIFI **
The resort is situated in Kilifi, an old coastal town halfway between
Mombasa and Malindi. Kilifi is a small picturesque town that developed
because of it’s natural habour and creek. It is self-sufficient with fruit
markets, small shops, two banks, a post office, a pharmacy and a hospital.

Mnarani Club is situated along the Mombasa/Malindi highway where the Kilifi
creek opens to the Indian Ocean.

The resort is situated in Kilifi, an old coastal town halfway between

there are one hundred spacious rooms, set in clusters of thatched cottages
and double storey buildings. The baobab trees in the colourful gardens are
approximately six hundred years old, so a sense of history combines with

OCEAN VILLAGE CLUB ***
The charming Ocean Village Club is situated on the magnificent white sand
Diani Beach.

PINEWOOD VILLAGE ***
Pinewood Village is situated 40kms south of Mombasa on the stretch of
deserted white sand.
The village consists of 20 villas each with two or three bedrooms, three
bath/shower rooms, kitchen, dining/living area plus a private veranda.
There is a chef allocated for each villa to prepare breakfast and dinner to
order.
Various activities including tennis, squash, table tennis, windsurfing,

CHALE PARADISE ISLAND ***
The small romantic island situated 10km south of Diani, is a nature reserve
with white sandy beach, tropical rainforest, a wealth of bird life, and
sulphur springs.
It is mostly furnished with African/Arabic antiques with a total of 55
rooms. 35 tented bungalows, 16 apartments, 2 penthouses, and 2 executive
villas. The bungalows and apartments have combined living and bedroom,
shower, and a toilet, with private sea facing terrace.
The main restaurant serves buffet and also offers a'la Carte meals. Two
other restaurants serve international cuisine and freshly caught seafood.
The Japanese restaurant serves 'live' prepared food.

There are 259 fully air-conditioned standard and superior rooms organized
into cottages each with private balcony.

The Pemba Channel Fishing Club is situated in the tiny fishing village of
Shimoni, 80kms south of Mombasa.
A total of 20 guests can be accommodated in the simple white bandas set in
tropical gardens.
The Clubhouse has an attractive, homely lounge filled with wicker sofas and
overstuffed cushions, with bowls of shells and lots of fresh flowers.
