Southern Sky Safaris of Kenya

Day 1 – Arrive at Mombasa’s Moi International Airport to be met by our representative and then enjoy an air conditioned executive transfer to the beautiful Driftwood Beach Club in Malindi located 70 miles north of Mombasa. Dinner and overnight on half-board.

Day 2 - You will be met by a Southern Sky Safaris representative who will brief you on all procedures and requirements for the week. Dinner and overnight the driftwood Beach Club (HB).

The Driftwood Beach Club is a small Malindi beach hotel, not part of the package tourism scene, located on the Silver Sands beach.
One of the most tranquil and relaxing hotels on Kenya's coast the Driftwood Beach Club is idyllically located on a white powdery beach, surrounded by coral walls nestling in between palm trees and covered in flowering vegetation. This is informality at its best.
Individual air conditioned bandas with thatched roofs situated in a magnificent tropical garden accommodate up to 70 guests. The clubs restaurant is well-known, for simple but elegant cuisine and the bar dining area is elegant simplicity.

For their evening entertainment guests are offered a choice of dance and folklore performances, and the discos at nearby downtown Malindi which is well known for very active club nightlife. A casino is nearby.

Day 3 - Optional tour available to Watamu Marine Park for snorkeling and seafood lunch. Dinner and overnight at The Driftwood. (HB)

Day 4 - Day at leisure to prepare for your wedding. Dinner and overnight at the Driftwood. (HB)

Day 5 - Day at leisure to prepare for your wedding. 16:00 pick up from your hotel and enjoy a VIP transfer to the Tamarind Dhow in Mombasa. Arrive at 17:30 to meet with your Southern Cross Safaris representative and the pastor. Marriage ceremony on the top deck of the traditional Arab sailing vessel, known as the Tamarind Dhow, as the sun sets over Mombasa old town. At 18:30 have a seat at your private allocated table and enjoy the Tamarind Dhow evening cruise with a special menu and a live band with dancing. 10:30 the cruise ends when you will enjoy a private transfer back to a specially selected Mombasa hotel. Overnight at a specially selected Mombasa Hotel (B&B)

The Tamarind Dhow is well known in Kenya and many happy couples have exchanged vows on board this beautifully built Arab Dhow operated by the Tamarind Group one of Kenya leading restaurant companies. The Tamarind Dhow is a magical experience for everyone with evening cruises inside the sheltered water of the inland harbour accompanied by enticing meals cooked on board over live coals and gentle music and dancing to a live band.

Day 6 - 07:30 pick up to depart for your honeymoon safari. You will arrive at the private sanctuary gate at Taita Hills at 10:30. Enjoy a game drive for some hours before lunch at the famous Salt Lick Lodge. Enjoy lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive and then retire to the Lion Rock Camp. After dinner retire to your honeymoon tent under the skies of Africa. Dinner and overnight at Lion Rock. (FB)

Lion Rock Camp is an exclusive tented camp built as a local community project. Perched on a gently rising hill with tents nestling amongst the hills contours, Lion Rock enjoys isolated but panoramic views over the plains below and the splendor of the snow capped peak of Kilimanjaro. The unforgettable sight of the setting sun as you enjoy your complimentary champagne will ensure your desire to re-visit many more times.
The camp provides tranquility and relaxation in the true spirit of African hospitality. Lion Rock allows our guests to get close to Africa and be at one with nature sleeping under canvas in the “African Bush”
It is enchanting and delightful and home to a variety of animals and birdlife. Elephant, Zebra, Lion, Gazelle can all be easily viewed in the nearby private Game Sanctuary.

Day 7 - Morning game drive after breakfast. After lunch drive to the Shimba Hills Tree Lodge close to Diani Beach. Romantic sundowner including sparkling wine. After dinner retire to your honeymoon room in a tree-house. Overnight at Shimba Hills Lodge (FB)

The Shimba Hills Tree Lodge was the dream of one man inspired by the beauty of the natural forest in the Shimba Hills. Artfully constructed overlooking a water pool and salt lick you may see elephant close below you from your log cabin style room. Here at 1,000 feet elevation the air is cooler and less humid than at the nearby beaches of Diane.

Day 8 - After breakfast enjoy a game drive in the lovely forest and grassland of the Shimba Park perhaps to see the elusive Roan and Sable antelope, the only place in Kenya where they may be found. After game drive return to Mombasa and the romantic Tamarind Restaurant for a late lunch overlooking the old town. Return to Driftwood Beach Club for another week of relaxing on the beautiful Silversands Beach or connect with your flight home.
